Cheney Cross Country

CHS Senior, Reno Ferris, has signed with Friends University to run for the Track and Cross Country teams. Reno has been a standout runner at Cheney over the last four years and is excited to continue in college as a member of the Falcons’ teams.

His high school accomplishments include multiple appearances at the 3A State Track Meet and 3A State Cross Country Meet. This Fall as a member of the Cross Country team, Reno had several top ten finishes, including runner up at the Central Plains League meet.

At the Regional Cross Country meet, Reno was well on his way to a top five finish and another State appearance when he collapsed with heat exhaustion within 100m of the finish. Although it was a disappointing ending to his high school career, Reno bounced back to training in a few days and is excited to begin his college career.

While at Friends University, Reno intends to major in Elementary Education. He is joined in the photo by Friends Head Track and Field/Cross Country Coach Damian Smithhisler (back left), Cheney Head Track and Field/Cross Country Coach Rich Simmons (back right) and his parents Brett and Tracy Ferris.
