The Cheney High School volleyball team won the 3A Sub-State Tournament on Saturday in Kingman to qualify for the 3A State Tournament at White Auditorium in Emporia to be held Friday, October 27th.

The Cardinals opened the Sub-State tournament with a first round win over the 7th seeded Southwestern Heights Mustangs. In the semifinals, Cheney matched up with the 6th seeded Conway Springs Cardinals, who had previously beaten the 3rd seeded Douglass Bulldogs. Cheney won the semifinal match in two sets to get to the finals. In the finals, Cheney defeated league rival, Garden Plain, in three sets to claim the title. 

At the State Tournament Cheney will be the #4 seed and play Beloit at 8:30am on Friday. Their other pool play opponents will be Wellsville and Hays TMP. The top two teams from pool play advance to the semis and finals on Saturday morning.
