Cheney opened postseason play with a first round Regional victory over the visiting Douglass Bulldogs, 15-0. Cheney struck first with a huge first inning, highlighted by Micah Grover’s two home runs. The first came with Corbin Meireis aboard and no outs, while the second home run was a two out grand slam to left. The Cardinals continued to score in the second inning when Trent Scheer laced a shot to center the went under the diving fielder and rolled to the warning track for a three run inside the park home run. Hunter Adolph worked quickly on the mound, using 29 pitches to get the win. Cheney will face Halstead on Thursday at Douglass in the 4:00 Semifinal game.
