CHS Hires New Football Coach

Cheney, KS – The Cheney High School Athletic Department (http://www.cheneyathletics.com) announced today that Shelby Wehrman has joined USD 268 Cheney Schools as a teacher in the physical education departments of Cheney High School and Cheney Middle School as well as Head Football Coach for Cheney High School.

Mr. Wehrman has mostly recently been employed as a teacher and coach in the Derby school district. He is a graduate of Derby High School, Kansas State University and has earned a Master’s degree from Wichita State University. He has additional teaching and coaching experience at Clearwater and Rose Hill High Schools.  His football playing experiences include playing under Coach Tom Young and winning a State Championship. Shelby was a four year letter winner at Kansas State under Coach Bill Snyder, earning trips to five bowl games.

Shelby and his wife, Melanie, are parents to six children, ages 4-13. We are pleased to welcome them to the Cheney community and Cheney schools. For those that would like to meet Coach Wehrman, there will be a meet and greet at the Cheney High School auditorium on Monday, June 5th at 6:00 pm.
