The Cheney High School Girls Golf Team won the first 3-1A Girls Golf State title in school history Monday at Southwinds Country Club in Garden City. They won the team title by seven strokes over runner up, Caney Valley.
Brooklyn Lonker (87) won the title of Co-Individual Champion after play was suspended after two playoff holes due to darkness. Brooklyn is the second girls Individual Champion in school history (Jacie Scheer ’10). Taylor Wheelock (96) finished as the 9th individual medalist.
Other team members that played on the State team and filled out the scorecard were Taylor Overlees (106), Elyssa Kohler (111), Daleen Turner (112) and Brooke Fischer (112).
The golf team is coached by Randy Leroux. After finishing as State Runner Up last year, the team was able to take it to the next level and capture a State Title. Congratulations to Coach Leroux and the team!
