Over 70 golfers made the trip to Cherry Oaks in Cheney on Tuesday, October 3rd for the CPL/CKL 18 hole tournament. With the cloud cover providing relief, the area golfers had great weather for the 1:00 tee time. Cheney was able to turn in a team score of 418 which was third overall and good for runner-up in the CPL schools. Makenzie Cox (102) and Emory Ast (104) were CPL league medalists at 8th and 10th respectively. Morgan Ayres (105) and Addy Cokely (107) were just outside the league medals. Natalie Craig (112) and Emmy Martin (114) rounded out the balanced Lady Cardinals scoring. On the junior varsity 9-hole division Madi Jones was the top medalist and Jalyn Turner was 8th medalist.
The Lady Cardinals will tee it up next at the KSHSAA 1-3A regional tournament on Monday, October 9th. This year the regional will be on Cheney’s home course, Cherry Oaks. The 18-hole event will begin with 9:30 tee times for the first group with each group following at 10 min intervals.
