KSHSAA CLASS 3A REGIONAL TRACK AND FIELD MEET

Cheney High School is pleased to host a 3A Regional Track and Field Meet!

SCHOOLS:  Anthony/Harper-Chaparral, Belle Plaine, Caney Valley, Cheney, Council Grove, Douglass, Eureka, Fredonia, Gypsum-Southeast of Saline, Halstead, Haven, Hesston, Kingman, Lindsborg-Smoky Valley, Lyons, Wichita Collegiate

 

 

SURFACES:  Cheney has an eight lane, IAAF certified polyurethane running track, high jump area and runways. Spikes no longer than ¼” may be worn. Shot and discus platforms are concrete. Javelin runway is grass.

TRACK INFIELD: No field event implements are allowed onto the track or football field area.

No sports drinks, gum or sunflower seeds will be allowed on track or football field, water only please.

AWARDS, SCORING, ADVANCING TO STATE:  In all regional meets, points will be awarded to winners of the first six (6) places in each event, including relays, as follows:  10-8-6-4-2-1.  Winners of the first four (4) places including relays will qualify for the state track and field meet.  In the event of ties for third or fourth place, the tie-breaking procedures outlined in the Track and Field Manual, Rule 3.H page 15, shall be used. Coaches are responsible for mailing their state entry fees to the KSHSAA.  This may be done on Monday of the week following Regionals.

Sprints and High Hurdles will qualify from the preliminaries to the finals by PLACE first, then by TIME.  In any of these events if more than two preliminary heats are required based on the number of entries, semifinal heats will be run.  By agreement of all coaches if there are only three (3) preliminary heats, semifinals may be waived.

RESTRICTED AREAS:  Coaches and athletes who are warming up for an event only are allowed inside the track.  Family and friends are not allowed inside the track.  It is the responsibility of the coaches to inform parents.  Restricted areas will be marked.  Meet workers, judges and athletes are permissible in the restricted areas; parents should use the bleachers where provided.  Coaches will have a badge/wristband to be worn at all times during the meet.

REGIONAL SHIRTS:  There will be limited Regional T-shirts available for sale the day of the meet. If you’d like to order in advance and guarantee a shirt, orders can be placed via Google form. They are $12 each and all teams will be listed on the shirt. Orders are due May 3rd.

CONCESSION STAND:  There will be a concession stand provided by the CHS Cheer team.

RESTAURANTS:  There are several options for food in and around Cheney.

PASS GATE/ADMISSIONS:  The admission charge will be $5.00 for K-12 students; $6.00 for adults.

BUSES:  Buses and school vehicles can drop off athletes in front of the stadium by turning into the high school parking lot, dropping off and then proceed south to park south of our bus barn on either side of the gravel drive.
