The JV Lady Cardinals fell, 32-22 to Garden Plain, in the Finals of the CPL JV Tournament at Conway Springs. The game was low scoring and close throughout with both teams competing hard and playing tough defense. Kennedy Higgins had 8 points and Emily Monson had 7 to lead the team in scoring. The JV team record is now 9-4 on the season.

The JV Lady Cardinals advanced to the Finals of the CPL JV Tournament with a win over the Trinity Academy Knights. The Cardinals grabbed an early lead and extended it throughout the game. Kennedy Higgins led the team in scoring with 16 points and Emily Monson chipped in 9.

Cheney defeated Haven 57-50 for third place in the Adolph Rupp Tournament. Cheney lead through out the game and was able to reach 10-3 on the season. Ty Patterson lead the Cardinals with 20 points. Cheney will resume action February 3rd at Garden Plain.

The Lady Cardinals opened the first round of the CPL JV Tournament at Conway Springs with a win over Douglass, 53-45. The Cardinals used transition offense and hit a good percentage of mid range jump shots to build a lead. Turnovers in the fourth quarter allowed Douglass to make the game closer, but Cheney prevailed and moves on to the semifinals to play Trinity Academy on Saturday. Emily Monson led the team with 23 points and Kennedy Higgins added 13.

The JV Lady Cardinals relied on strong first quarter performance to carry them to a 38-27 win over the visiting Bluestem Lions. The Cardinals were led in scoring by Maddie Freund’s 10 points. Kristen Wewe, Emily Monson and Kirstin Campbell each added 8 points. Their record is 7-3 on the season and head into the CPL JV tournament as the number 4 seed. The first round will be played Thursday at Conway Springs vs Douglass.

The Cheney Lady Cardinals FR/SO team traveled to Pratt on Saturday to play Ellinwood in the third place game of the Skyline JV tournament. Using a solid defense that held the Eagles to single digit scoring in each quarter the Lady Cards were able to keep extending their lead and win by a final of 50 to 29 claiming the third place medals. Every player contributed in the scoring column for Cheney. The individual scoring breakdown was: Kennedy Higgins 27, Jordan Block 9, Brenna Kreutziger 6, Macy Wallace 5, and Kristen Wewe 3.
